Bio of Pastor Jarvis Avery Jones
Reverend Jarvis A. Jones has served as pastor of the Antioch United Church of Christ since February
1988.
Through his leadership Antioch has determined to be a people who lives for Christ and show it by their love and deeds in kingdom building.
Pastor Jones served churches in Surry County and Chesapeake Virginia before his present pastorate.
Pastor Jones was licensed to preach the gospel by the Oak Gove Baptist Church in Suffolk, Virginia in September 1973, and was ordained by the Sharon Baptist Missionary Association in March 1973.
Pastor Jones has attended Virgina Seminary and College in Lynchburg, Virginia, and earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in History Education from Norfolk State University in 2000.
Pastor Jones has always lived by the motto, “To God be the Glory for all the things he has done.”
Pastor Jones passion is to preach and teach the Word of God so that souls may be save and Christians may grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Reverend Cherie Yvette Hollins
Assistant Pastor
Reverend Cherie Yvette Hollins is the Assistant Pastor of Antioch United Church of Christ. She is the overseer of the Youth Department. She holds a Bachelor of Divinity from Roanoke Theological Seminary, Elizabeth City, North Carolina. Reverend Hollins also holds a Master’s Degree in Biblical Counseling from Andersonville Theological Seminary, Camilla, GA.
